what an elegant site for such an obnoxious purpose. I'm not one who is generally a fan of public shame -- which is probably why I'm not in law enforcement (amongst a whole host of other reasons).

I completely agree, Jason. The site looks good, and it's an excellent example of how media can use raw data to illustrate news stories. That being said... there's a high discomfort factor involved with a site like this.
Yet at the same time, I have to admit that I spent quite a bit of time manipulating the data and clicking through filter options (which is how I happened across the photo I posted). I'm not sure I like what that says about me.

Heh. And I have to admit to myself that, until recently, I really enjoyed Smoking Gun's weekly mug shot roundup (even as I felt the squick factor bubbling up inside me).
